For over 100 years, Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania (VROCP) has been serving and supporting our community. Our mission is to facilitate independence, enrich the quality of life, and empower individuals who are visually impaired or otherwise disabled through prevention, employment, and educational awareness programs. VROCP services are primarily funded by an in-house Business to Business Division employing individuals with all disabilities.
Currently, we are seeking a part-time HR Generalist to provide vital operational and administrative support for our agency. The Human Resources Generalist is an important part of carrying out our mission.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be the go-to person for a variety of Human Resources functions, ensuring smooth operations and compliance across all departments. This position offers the chance to make a direct impact on our employees' experience and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
As our HR Generalist, you will handle a broad range of HR duties, including:
· Lead the process of recruitment and interviewing candidates for employment
· Conduct background checks and eligibility verifications
· Prepare new hire packets and conduct initial orientation for all new staff
· Process and forward all new hire paperwork and payroll data to the Payroll Clerk
· Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee questions regarding benefits, payroll, and leave
Administer benefit programs (e.g., tracking hours for Affordable Care Act and 401(k) eligibility) and notify employees when they qualify
· Administer the performance appraisal process
· Conduct exit interviews for voluntary separations
· Provide first-line advisory service to employees on absence, health issues, and employee relations matters
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
· Maintain and store all employee files with confidentiality
· Monitor state employment websites for required reporting updates and forward information to the CEO
· Process necessary online documentation for Unemployment Compensation and Workers’ Compensation claims
· Ensure all required governmental notices are posted and current
What You'll Bring (Qualifications)
· BA or BS degree in HRM, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
· 1–3 years of experience in an HR department that handled the type of work described above
· SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus
· Exceptional customer service and communication skills with a special sensitivity toward persons with disabilities.
· Demonstrated high levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
· Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail
· Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
· Strong knowledge of the US and PA fair employment laws and regulations
· Computer proficiency, including the ability to learn and work with a variety of software and databases
Typical office setting work environment, including sitting, walking, bending, reaching, light lifting (up to 20 pounds), computer use, phone use, reading, and typing.
